Synthesis and inhibition corrosion effect of two thiazole derivatives for carbon steel in 1 M HCl

Inhibition of C38 carbon steel corrosion by 4-methyl-3-phenyl-2(3H)-thiazolethione (TO1) and 4-methyl-2-(methylthio)-3- phenylthiazol-3-ium (ST1) in 1 M HCl was investigated weight loss electrochemical methods. All the data obtained reveal that two compounds act as good inhibitors this media. At optimized concentration TO1 ST1 showed highest inhibition efficiency 98.8% (2.10−4 M) 93.86% (10−3 respectively. Polarization curves show inhibitor molecules mixed type inhibitors. The impedance study an increase is accompanied polarization resistance a decrease double layer capacitance. Langmuir isotherm very well describes adsorption to surface corroding metal thermodynamic parameters strong chemical nature. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirms absorption under investigation on surface.
